It is known for its hot springs, stylish hotels, golf courses and spas, museums, outdoor events and famous sights. There are  many fine examples of midcentury-modern architecture.  Palm Springs is a popular weekend destination on the west coast. The surrounding Coachella Valley offers hiking, biking and horseback riding trails. And you can include Palm Springs Windmill Tours, The Palm Springs Art Museum and Palm Springs Aerial Tramway  in your itinerary. Follow my blog with Bloglovin Borrego Springs Borrego Springs is recognized as a designated "international dark sky" settlement, therefore there are no stop lights in Borrego Springs and night time lighting is kept to a minimum to protect the views of the night sky.  It provides outstanding opportunities for exploring the star filled night sky.  Borrego Springs has pueblo-style, modern architecture and ranch-style house architecture. Borrego Springs was designated as California's first International Dark-Sky Community by the International Dark-Sky Association. It is a center for public astronomy activities throughout the year. The rock layers have been uplifted, tilted, and eroded, forming a feature called the Grand Staircase, a series of colorful cliffs stretching between Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon. The bottom layer of rock at Bryce Canyon is the top layer at Zion, and the bottom layer at Zion is the top layer at the Grand Canyon. Zion was a relatively flat basin near sea level 240 million years ago. As sands, gravels, and muds eroded from surrounding mountains, streams carried these materials into the basin and deposited them in layers.
