Arches National Park has over 2,000 natural stone arches and windows. Hundreds of soaring pinnacles, spires, massive fins and giant balanced rocks, and strangely shaped rocks. You can discover a landscape of contrasting colors, land forms and textures unlike any other in the world. This red-rock wonderland will amaze you with its formations, refresh you with its trails, and inspire you with its sunsets. Arches National Park open year-round, but during winter conditions can change quickly because the trails may be slippery.
Delicate Arch is the most well known arch, Landscape Arch, located at Devils Garden, stretches over 300 feet in length and is one of the largest arches in North America, and other interesting places in the park include Courthouse Towers, Balanced Rock, Fiery Furnace, and The Windows Section (this section of the park offers both beauty and variety –hiking, sightseeing, stargazing, photography, and enjoyment for the whole family).
Delicate Arch is the most well known arch. It is 60-foot-tall (18 m) freestanding natural arch located in Arches National Park near Moab, Utah. It is the most widely recognized landmark in Arches National Park. The original sandstone fin was gradually worn away by weathering and erosion, leaving the arch. Other arches in the park were formed the same way but, due to placement and less dramatic shape, are not as famous. The arch was known as "The Chaps" and "The Schoolmarm's Bloomers" by local cowboys.
Landscape Arch is located at Devils Garden, stretches over 300 feet in length and is one of the largest arches in North America. Landscape Arch to be the fifth longest natural arch in the world, measured the span in 2004 at 290.1 feet.
The Windows Section is considered by some to be the beating heart of Arches National Park. The area contains a large concentration of arches and is one of the most scenic locations in the park. North Window, Turret Arch, and Double Arch are just a few of the awe-inspiring expanses you’ll find in just over two square miles. Other named features in this area include Garden of Eden, Elephant Butte, and Parade of Elephants.
There are 721 miles (1160 kilometers) by car from Los Angeles to Arches National Park, following the I-15 N and I-70 E route.
Los Angeles to Arches National Park are 10 hours 55 minutes (depends on the traffic) far apart, if you drive non-stop.
The time difference between Los Angeles, CA and Arches National Park, UT is 1 hour (current time in Los Angeles is 1:30 pm and the current time in Arches National Park is 2:30 pm).
